How a walk in the desert, A dance with a cactus...
Invited in a discovery of renewal and celebration with the life force of all living beings
A Renewed Connection with the Desert
The desert and I awoke refreshed after many long, hot, dry summer days. The Monsoon rains came, bringing winds and dust storms. A flurry of activity.
I imagined a walk in the desert. It had been far too long. The temperature dropped 30 degrees and my beloved trail, and I were reunited.
Embracing Nature's Renewal
The sweet and spicy smell of wet creosote aroused in me a desire to get outside and go for a walk. I was thrilled to revisit the majestic elders, the saguaros. I got to laugh with the frisky desert rabbits and lizards.
The bird's song of rejoicing in the rain compelled me to sing along. Nobody else was around so I felt extra comfortable belting out a song or two.
The desert had been in a form of suspended animation - hibernation. I could relate and I too felt new life bubbling up from within.
After some rain, the green leaves on the ocotillo cactus stems popped out. The rain acted like a light switch and the stored solar energy brought the cactus back to life.
A Profound Connection
I noticed the newly green leaves on the thorny ocotillo stems swaying in the wind. I reached out, fingers nestling into the open spaces between the thorns. A simple and profound connection sparked between us.
We swayed together feeling a shared and familiar energy fueling our movement.
We are one – living beings grounded in the life-giving elements of the desert soil.
We are all linked by a common divine thread.
Embracing the Life Force
A drunk-on-life joy rippled through my body, reminding me of the ever-present magic around us and within us. The I AM - divine creator - pulses through all living things.
An awareness that links us all, plants and humans, is the same life force; always giving, and loving.
Love is breathing through everything.
Life-giving rains transform the arid landscape. Dormant plants spring to life, nourished by long-awaited moisture. Nature's renewal mirrors our potential for growth and re-birth.
How are you nurturing yourself?
Are you experiencing your world through the lens of limitation; holding onto beliefs that have dried up your desires with self-prescribed inevitable failure?
Are you withering under an imposed drought of lovely experiences? The desert's rebirth reminds us: that rejuvenation is possible for everything and everyone.
Let's envision and invite in more play in ways that you can access today.
Like the water that flows in the once dry streams, we can use our imagination to open up the flow of new possibilities into our daily lives.
The desert's magic can remind us that no matter how long we've been dormant, we can awaken, renew, and thrive. Let’s find our paths to renewal and connection.
