In the desert this time of year can be robust with wild flowers. Each flower nourishes and supports the winged ones, the four legged and the crawlers.
They also add to the two-legged experience as we, if we take the time to notice, get to experience a myriad of colors we don’t often see. Not to mention all of the green leaves and tiny buds. It contributes to enhancing our happy chemical, endorphins.
I thoroughly enjoy hiking the trails in solitude, relishing the opportunity to be fully present in the moment and soak in the serenity of nature. I immerse myself in the sights, sounds, and smells of the outdoors.
At the same time, I also find it enjoyable to engage with other hikers as we get to relish in the vibrant Spring colors and the floral bouquet that surrounds us.
There's something magical about being able to share the wonder of nature with others who appreciate nature. It’s fun when I encounter someone who saw something that had them stop in awe; they can’t wait to share it.
I don’t label or post plant species, etc. Though that is wonderful, I like to experience nature with less data and more feeling, and opportunities for wonder, discovery. Take a moment to watch where the plants grow, nature is the loveliest landscaper.
The desert earth, once parched and still,
Now, it pulses with new life.
Buried seeds, dormant and cold awaken with each drop of rain that splashes through the crusty layer.
A primal force takes over as each plant greets the sun for the first time.
Flowers bloom, radiant in color.
These vibrant blooms, spirit-kissed, live above the earth for a short while.
In their fleeting, ephemeral grace,
We glimpse the sacred.
